Kitchen islands are a nice amenity, but I’ve learned that if you’re ready for cabinet/counter upgrades yet your kitchen is narrow, you can opt for an equally functional peninsula. You may have to sacrifice some upper cabinetry, but you’ll gain an open-style kitchen (great sight lines!) while still defining the space.
